Do you want to work at Mr. Kitty’s Cat Café & Boutique because you love to play with and cuddle with cats? Who doesn’t! However, if that is the primary reason you want to work at Mr. Kitty’s Cat Café & Boutique you may simply want to become a regular patron.
 

On a daily basis, our employees will not be spending much time with the kitties. We have a staff of volunteers from our partner the Eau Claire County Humane Association that will be staffing our cat lounge and working directly with the cats. As an employee of Mr. Kitty’s cat café, 90% of the job will be using your superb customer service skills to wait on, serve, and clean up after our customers.
 

We truly hope you have an intense love for cats and even have experience caring for them. However, we want everyone that applies to have a clear picture of what the job actually involves.
The cats get the majority of their cuddles from customers, not employees. Employees' interactions with the cats during the day, if needed, will primarily revolve around cleaning up after them and basic care.
 

The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, friendly personality, flexibility, and a strong work ethic. Integrity is a must! We are interested in those who would fit in alongside a similarly driven and hard-working group. Being a team player is required.

Job Type: We need employees with an open schedule and flexible availability.
• Part-time position (5-20 hours per week)
• Hours available between 9:00 am – 7:15 pm
• Availability Tuesdays – Saturdays for day or night shifts
(will be filling in for open shifts)
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities:
 

• Must Love People and Cats!
• Provide excellent customer service! You should be comfortable and friendly with customers and always have a smile on your face.
• Greet all customers as they enter. Even if you are busy.
• Work comfortably with customers and answer questions about all products, services, and cats currently residing in the lounge.
• Schedule and check-in customers in our reservation system and process transactions. Ensure every cat lounge patron has a signed liability waiver on hand.
• Update guest reservations as needed and take reservations for walk-in customers.
• Assist customers with getting their beverages and snacks from the counter.
• Must be technologically savvy - Should be comfortable learning to use multiple apps, including point-of-sale (POS) and reservations.
• Must be able to handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and provide customers with proper change.
• Must be accountable for every transaction during their shift.
• Able to inform guests of the Cat Adoption Lounge rules.
• Monitor engagement with guests and cats and serve as a matchmaker between our cats and prospective adopters. (if short on cat lounge volunteers)
• Ready to do lots and lots of cleaning⁠ so the establishment remains pristine for cats and guests.
• Washing dishes.
• Keep litter boxes clean, food bowls full, and freshwater flowing for the cats.
• Guide and assist with the adoption process.
• Keep the café side neat and tidy and the merchandise, drinks and snacks stocked.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must have experience caring for animals, experience volunteering at a rescue is even better!
• Okay with exposure to cats, having no allergies to them.
• Willingness to help cover other employee shifts.
• Ability to work Saturdays.
• Previous customer service experience is preferred.
• Willingness to help out where needed.
• Remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work alone and meet opening/closing requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the owner on a regular basis.
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs⁠. (cat food, litter, and some cats are heavy)
• Perform various tasks as needed.
• Social Media knowledge and photo/video experience are a plus.
